We've all had a day where we had one simple task and spent hours looking for a file. Before a project begins, we align internally on naming conventions and file org with buy-in from all internal stakeholders. Systems are set in place early and designed to work for everyone involved.

Internally, project leaders put together a brief that includes link to RFP, signed contract, budget, scope, timelines, milestones, org charts and deliverables.

Externally, clients receive an asset checklist to provide as much information before the process begins.  

Host internal and external meetings to review the project brief. Meet internally first to ensure milestones and deliverables feel doable for the team and review what the team needs to be sucessfull. 

Meet externally to set expectations, define what success looks like for the project and flag blockers + establish meeting cadences.

Let the design and delivery process begin. I start with design research, a more indepth form of discovery, then strategy, schematic design and design documentation. 

This is a temp check for internal and external teams. I often play, "Rose, bud, thorn," to determine what's going well, what could use improvement, and what needs to be addressed. It helps prevent fire drills and supports strong stakeholder management and overall project success. 

After every project or big meeting, I host postmortems - internally first, then with external stakeholders. There's always room for improvement and this is an opportunity to celebrate wins, grow into even better teams and bolster stakeholder relations for future opportunities.
